John Velazquez

John "Rabbitt" Velazquez, 64 of McDonald, passed away Tuesday July 3, 2012 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center.  He was born November 9, 1947 in Juncos, Puerto Rico the son of the late Andres and Clotilde Viera Velazquez.  He was retired from GM as a Inspector.  John was a avid softball player and played for many area teams in Ohio and Pennsylvania.  He was also inducted to the Softball Hall of Fame in Oklahoma.  He loved music and singing to karaoke.  He leaves his wife, the former, Katherine Moore whom he married December 18, 2009, children, John Velazquez of Pittsburgh, PA, Dana (Chuck) Riley of McDonald, Priscilla Velazquez of Florida, Erik ( Beth) Velazquez of Austintown, step-sons, Rodney Baglama of Campbell and Keith (Chrissy) Baglama of Boardman, Robert Santangelo of McDonald and Christopher (Sherry) Carpenter of Boardman, 10 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.  Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister Evelyn Velazquez, brother William Velazquez a grandson and a granddaughter.  A Memorial service will be held on Tuesday, July 31st at 6:00 PM at the Blackstone Funeral Home in Girard.  To view this obituary and to send condolences to the Velazquez family visit www.blackstonefuneralhome.com .
