John A. Vigorito (Vigs), 60, of Girard, passed away on Thursday, October 25, 2018, at Hospice House in Poland. John was born November 6, 1957, in Warren, Ohio, the son of John and Emmy (Dumlao) Vigorito. He was a 1976 graduate of Girard High School, earned his bachelor’s in Computer Science at Youngstown State University in 1980, and taught computer courses at YSU for over two decades. John worked as Information Tech Director for Liberty Steel Industries in Warren. John joyfully involved himself in everything that his family participated in. He served on Boy Scout Troop #40 committee; volunteered at Mill Creek Park; was a former softball coach; served as President of Girard Band Boosters; and was a member of St. Rose Church, K of C, and United for Girard Scouting. John enthusiastically shared with family and friends his passions for sports, cars, electronics, music, food, and all things superheroes and Star Trek. John’s legacy and love of life will be cherished by his wife, Carol (Pucak) Vigorito; his children, Jennifer Vigorito of Boardman, John Carl Vigorito of Defiance, and Jordan Michael Vigorito of Akron; his sisters, Teresa (George) Berick of Austintown, and Arlene (Scott) Hawkins of Cypress, Texas; his grandson, Asher Renzenbrink; and numerous nieces, nephews and close friends. Besides his parents, John is preceded in death by his brother Leonard Vigorito. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, October 29th, 12:30 PM at St. Rose Church, preceded by a 12:00 PM prayer service at Blackstone Funeral Home, in Girard. The family will receive relatives and friends from 4:00 - 7:00 PM on Sunday at the funeral home. John will be laid to rest at Girard City Cemetery.
