Joseph E. Cretella, 82, of McDonald, passed away on Tuesday January 6, 2015 at Shephard of the Valley. He was born June 19, 1932 in Youngstown, the son of the late Steve and Lydia Casale Cretella. Joseph was a veteran in the Air Force during the Korean Conflict. Joseph retired as a supervisor for International Mill Service in Pennsylvania. He was a member of Our Lady of Perputal Help Church in McDonald, Knights of Columbus in McDonald and the Eagles Lodge of Girard. Joseph enjoyed watching football and always enjoyed watching his children and then his grandchildren in all their sports events. He is survived by his wife, the former, Carlene A. Spjut, whom he married October 6, 1955, his children; Stephanie (Robert) Reed and Anthony Cretella , both of McDonald, his sisters; Jane Doran and Mickey (Joseph) Pruneski, both of Girard, and grandchildren; Joseph Reed, Danielle Reed, Matthew Reed, Dominic Cretella and Deno Cretella. Funeral services will be held on Saturday January 10th, 1:00 PM at Blackstone Funeral Home in Girard. The family will receive relatives and friends on Saturday from 11:00 AM until the time of service. Joseph will be laid to rest at Resurrection Cemetery.
