Joseph (Giuseppe) "Little Joe" Migliozzi, 76, of Girard, went to be with Jesus at his heavenly home on Sunday September 22, 2013 at Select Hospital Services in Warren . He was born July 22, 1937 in Formicola Italy , the son of the late Francesco and Maria Corsale Migliozzi. Joe came to this country in 1958 and became an extremely proud American Citizen on December 14, 1979 . He worked for Wean United and other steel companies in Youngstown for 20 years. Joe opened his dream restaurant in Girard Little Peppino's in August of 1982 until 2006. The restaurant was his life's desire. When he was in Italy, his family was very poor and often had little food to eat. He vowed that his wife and children would never go hungry. Joe and his family loved the restaurant and made many friends throughout the years. The restaurant was known for its homemade spaghetti sauce and giant loafs of homemade bread. Joe his wife Angie and their daughter Phyllis hosted the Italian Radio Show locally for 36 years. This is where he was known as "Little Joe". He loved sharing his Italian heritage with others and people would say he could be a professor and teach broken English. He was one of the founding fore fathers of the Warren Italian Festival. In Joe's younger days he loved fishing, bowling and was in many bocce leagues and tournaments. He loved to cook, and make great homemade wine, which he took pride in and passed the recipe on to his sons. Joe was a generous and giving man, and would give you the shirt off his back. He especially loved and cherished his wife, children, brothers and sisters. Joe leaves to cherish his memory of his wife Angela Noreen Szwec, whom he marred September 2, 1961 in Fontana, California, sons, Frank (Kathy) Migliozzi of Girard, John (Connie) Migliozzi of Girard and daughter Phyllis Migliozzi of Girard, sister Florence Roberts of Niles, brother, Vincent (Ann Marie) Migliozzi of Girard, sister-in-law, Vincenza Migliozzi of Girard, step-grandchildren, Timi (Brian) Williams and Michael Rushwin, great-granddaughter, Noelle, several nieces and nephews especially Alexis. He is preceded in death by his parents, brother, Stefano Migliozzi, sisters, Stefanella Simeone and Carmela Lambert, brother-in-law, Anthony Roberts, step-granddaughters, Cortney Rushwin and Lee Ann Candela, niece Mary Roberts and nephew, Anthony Roberts. A Mass of a Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday September 25, 2013 at 12:00 PM at St. Rose Church with a prayer service at 11:30 am at Blackstone Funeral Home. Family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday from 9:30 to 11:30 am at the funeral home. Interment will be held at Girard City Cemetery . The family would like to express their sincere thanks to the staff at Select Hospital Service in Warren and the Nuns at St. Joseph Hospital exspecially Sister Mary Ann for the wonderful care and kindness they showed Joe during his illness.
