Joyce D. Mohn, 84, of Park Vista Nursing Care Center, formerly of McDonald, passed away on Saturday July 11, 2015, Joyce was born September 29, 1930 in Youngstown, Ohio, the daughter of the late Andrew and Mary Kirkland Douglas. Joyce earned her degree as a Medical Secretary at Youngstown Business College. She had worked for Memory Lane, at the Eastwood Mall and then for Park Vista, as a social worker, until she retired in 1994. Joyce was a member of the Girard First United Methodist Church, the Lydia Circle and the McDonald Literary Guild. She loved to paint and had won a blue ribbon at the Canfield Fair for her painting one year. She is survived by her daughter Pam (Homer) Gearhart, of McDonald, her son Robert (Kelly) Mohn, of Put-In-Bay, grandsons; Wes (Sara) Gearhart of Lordstown, Andy Mohn and Dallas Mohn, both of Put-In-Bay, great-grandchildren; Ethan, Jacob, Mason, Makenzie, Alyssa, Kayla and Lucas, her brother, Andrew (Mae) Douglas of Fredericksburg, Virginia, several nieces and nephews and her beloved cat, Toby. She is preceded in death by her husband, Chad B. Mohn, whom she married October 13, 1951 and died Sept. 6, 2000 and a granddaughter Allie Mohn. Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 17th, 11:00 AM, at Blackstone Funeral Home in Girard. The family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday from 6-8 PM at the funeral home, and on Friday from 10:00 AM until the time of service. Joyce will be laid to rest at Tod Homestead Cemetery. The family wishes to thank the staff of Park Vista and Senior Independence Hospice for the wonderful care that was given to their mother.
