June E. Myer

January 19, 1934 — September 26, 2024

Girard

June E. Myer, 90, of Liberty Township, went peacefully to her heavenly home on Thursday, September 26, 2024 at St. Joseph Hospital surrounded by her loving daughters.

June was born on January 19, 1934 in Port Jervis, New York, an only child to Donald and Ella (Edwards) Lake. She was named after the song “June in January” made
popular by Bing Crosby. After graduating from Port Jervis High School where she was a cheerleader and choir member, June married her sweetheart, Francis A. Myer Jr., on September 6, 1952 at the Dutch Reformed Church in Port Jervis. The newlyweds made their home in Girard, Ohio before building their forever home on Keefer Rd. in Liberty Township where they raised their 3 daughters and enjoyed 60 years together.

June’s second family and home was Churchill United Methodist Church where she served in many capacities including Trustees, UMW president, VBS director, and was also a faithful member of the Chancel Choir for over 50 years. June was the church delegate to the East Ohio UMC Conference at Lakeside, Ohio for many years. She
was a member of the T.F.G (Torch, Flame, God) Sunday School class and enjoyed many activities with her dear friends. She was definitely a “Martha” with her organizational skills and heart for service and yet a “Mary” with the many bible studies in which she participated.

In addition to being a homemaker, June volunteered 50 years for the Trumbull County Board of Elections as a poll worker and later a precinct judge. She was a successful Tupperware salesperson and recruiter for Jo-Lene Sales, winning many prizes including a trip to Acapulco, Mexico for her and her husband’s 25th wedding anniversary.

June enjoyed going on cruises, traveling all around the USA, fishing trips to Canada, reading mysteries, putting together jigsaw puzzles, completing crossword puzzles,
and playing cards.

June’s greatest joy in life was her family. She cherished every moment spent together, creating lasting memories with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Whether it was family gatherings with delicious food, camping, games, or sleepovers, she always found ways to make family time special. She was hoping for one more family dinner and holding her newest great-grandchild due in December, but it was not to be.
June leaves to cherish her memory her daughters, Jane (Robert) Page of Vienna, Jill Steffy of McDonald, and Jennifer (Edward) Peck of Medina; grandchildren, Dr. Robert (Samantha) Steffy, Kalyn Peck (Catherine Bulot),Edward (Erin) Peck; great grandchildren, Eddie, Everett, Olivia, Baby Steffy, and long-time friend, Alma Knupp,
who cruised with her to Alaska just 10 years ago.

Along with her parents, June is preceded in death by her loving husband of 60 years, Francis, her grandson, Justin Steffy, and special friend Dr. Joseph Gregori.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 5th, 11:00 AM at Churchill United Methodist Church, where the family will receive relatives and friends at 10:00 AM
until the time of service.

The family asks in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Church Hill United Methodist Church in June's memory.

June will be interred at Rural Valley Cemetery in Cuddebackville, New York.
