Katherine A. "Kitty" Woods, 86, of McDonald, passed away peacefully on Friday September 11, 2020 at her residence. Kitty was born November 25, 1933 in Youngstown, Ohio, the daughter of Michael and Sophia (Mikacinich) Bucan. Along with her husband, she owned Gib's Dairy Bar in McDonald. She retired from McDonald local schools as a secretary for the Treasurer and Superintendent. Kitty was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, and while residing on Pymatuning Lake, she attended Our Lady of Victory Church in Andover. She was a former Girl Scout leader, a member of the McDonald Band Boosters and was on the start up committee for McDonald Alumni Association. In her spare time Kitty enjoyed quilting, cooking, baking and reading. She leaves to cherish her memory, her daughters, Patricia (Fred) Gault and Cathy (Michael Maierson) Woods, both of McDonald, Daughter In Law, Shawn Woods of Mineral Ridge, sister, Theresa Linton, of Northfield, Ohio, grandchildren; Brandon Woods, Sara (Sean) Gardner, Sophia (Brett Ekkens) Gault and Anna (Paul Adair) Gault, and great-grandchildren, Katie and Ellie Gardner and Samantha Woods. Besides her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Gilbert J. Woods, whom she married October 17, 1953 and died November 28, 2017, her son, Gilbert Woods Jr.,sister, Bernice Kren and brother, George Bucan. Private services were held on Tuesday, September 15th at Blackstone Funeral Home. Kitty was laid to rest at Green Haven Memorial Gardens, next to her husband. The family suggests any memorial contributions be made to Hospice of the Valley, or Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church.
