Kathleen "Honey" (McGee) O'Connell

Kathleen L. "Honey" O'Connell, 92, of Girard, went to be with her Lord on Saturday, December 8, 2018, at her home, with her family by her side, just hours before her 93rd birthday. Honey was born December 9, 1925,in Girard, Ohio, the daughter of Patrick J. and Margaret E. (Eicher) McGee. She was a 1944 graduate of Girard High School and had worked at McKelvey's, in downtown Youngstown, as a clerk, for many years. Honey was an active member of the First Christian Church, the Nifty-Fifties club, and the many missions that the church helped with. She was also a member of the GHS 1944 Lunch Bunch. She leaves to cherish her memory, her children; Kathleen Morrison, of Girard and Donald (Liz) Van Ness of Warren, stepson, Patrick (Diane) O'Connell, of Girard and stepdaughter, Ruth O'Connell, of Girard, 23 grandchildren and 47 great-grandchildren. Honey is preceded in death by her husband, Raymond O'Connell, whom she married December 16, 1972 and died January 21, 2003, her first husband, Foster Van Ness, her daughters; Karla Jean Nobles and Patricia Blue, sisters; Peggy Miller, Dorothy Clarke, Margaret LaClair Walters, Irene Martinec and Mary Baker and her brothers; William, George and James McGee. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 12th, 11:00 AM at the First Christian Church, where the family will receive relatives and friends from 10:00 AM until the time of service. Honey will be laid to rest at Girard City Cemetery next to her husband Ray.  It is suggested that any memorial contributions be made to the family to help defray expenses.
