Kay A. Kerekes, 76, of Girard, passed away on Thursday April 28, 2016 at St. Elizabeth’s Health Care Center. Kay was born September 22, 1939, in Dover, Ohio, the daughter of the late Gay and Jane Eades Thompson. Kay worked for many years at IGA in Niles as a meat processor. Kay loved to gamble and regularly played the lottery and BINGO. She enjoyed socializing with her family and friends while bowling and cooking but also enjoyed solace in the garden. She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband, Sigmund Kerekes, whom she married January 8, 1966; her daughters, Jaqueline (Don) Mathews, of Liberty Twp, Jill (Rick Vega), of Dublin, Holly Kerekes of Poland; her son Stephen (Amy) Kerekes of Dresden; her sisters, Nannette Soltesiz, Carole Seward, Vicki Mangiarelli, Debbie Julian, and Lora Campbell; her brothers, Duane and Michael Thompson; her grandchildren, Zechariah (Stephanie) Mathews, Mary (Stephen) Protheroe, James and Andrew Mathews, Olivia and Justin Kerekes; and, a bother-in-law, Csaba (Marge) Kerekes. Besides her parents she is preceded in death by her brothers, Gerald, Richard, and David Thompson; her sisters, Lois Maskim and Annabelle Slepski and her grandson, Isaiah Mathews. Services will be held on Sunday, May 1, 2016, 5:00 PM, at Open Door Community Church, 525 E. Marshal Road, in McDonald, Ohio.
