Laura Marie (Nigro) Casale

Laura M. Casale, 95, of Girard, passed away, with her family by her side, on Saturday, May 7, 2016, at her home. Laura was born December 22, 1920, in Girard, the daughter of Vincenzo and Filomena Perretta Nigro. She retired from Northside Hospital after many years as a baker. Laura was a member of St. Rose Church, and a former member of St. Rose Senior Citizens. She loved to bake and cook for her family. She leaves to cherish her memory, her daughters, Teresa Runnals, with whom she made her home, and Phyllis (Mickey) Zaleski, of Howland, grandchildren; Paula Runnals, of Sydney Australia, Curtis (Amanda) Zaleski, of Chambersburg, PA., Jennifer (Jesse) Hickerson, of Apex, NC and Jason Casale, of Liberty TN., two great-granddaughters, Audrey and Laura,and her sister-in-law, Florence Nigro. She is preceded in death by her son, Donald Casale, sisters, Antoinette Pozzuto and Josephine Pugliese, and brothers, John and Michael Nigro. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, May 10th, 12:00 PM, at St. Rose Church, preceded by a prayer service at 11:30 AM at Blackstone Funeral Home in Girard. The family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday from 10:00 - 11:30 AM at the funeral home. Laura will be laid to rest at Calvary Cemetery.
