Leo W. "Corky". Fry Sr., 86, of Austintown, formerly of Girard, passed away on Thursday, September 3, 2015 at Austin Woods Nursing Home. He was born October 7, 1928 in Girard, Ohio, the son of Leo C. and Elsie Ovans Fry. Corky worked as a Fireman for the Girard Fire Dept. for 32 years retiring in 1991. He was a member of St. Charles Church in Boardman, and was an Army Veteran. Corky enjoyed woodworking, bird carving, golfing and bowling. He had previously belonged to the Girard Jaycees, the Elks Lodge, was a scuba diver and life guard. He was an avid Browns and Ohio State fan. He is survived by his children; Deborah A. (Frank) Zamary of Boardman, Jeffrey C. (Dianne) Fry of Austintown and Leo W. (Marian) Fry Jr. of Austintown, grandchildren; Ashley (Michael) Handel, Morgan (Jeff) Talty, Connor Fry and Cameron Fry, and great-grandsons Leo and Arthur Handel. He is preceded in death by his wife, the former, Marjorie A Welsh, whom he married May 10, 1952 and died Feb. 6, 2006, his sister, Marian Ruggiero and brother Jack Fry. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, Sept. 6th, 2:00 PM at Blackstone Funeral Home in Girard. The family will receive relatives and friends on Sunday from 12:00 until the time of service. Corky will be laid to rest next to his wife at Resurrection Cemetery.
