Leonilda M (Gelsomino) Carusone

Leonilda "Nilda" M. Carusone, 86, of Girard, passed away on Friday, June 6, 2014 at her home.  Nilda was born Dec. 29, 1927 in Girard, the daughter of the late Ercole and Filomena Cardiero Gelsomino. She was a 1945 graduate of Girard High School.  Nilda retired in 1993 from Mahoning Sparkle Market Inc. as a payroll clerk and had previously worked for Ohio Bell, was the first Welcome Wagon Lady for Girard and Santisi Produce Warehouse.  She was a member of St. Rose Church, enjoyed traveling and loved cooking and taking care of her family. She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband, Armand A. Carusone, whom she married June 19, 1948, children; Peter Carusone of West Middlesex, Pa., Daniel Carusone, David Carusone, Melinda Carusone and Joan Bruno, all of Girard, grandchildren; Phillip, Sabrina, Nicole, Kristine and Danielle and her brother Rocky Gelsomino of Girard. She was preceded in death by her brothers Anthony and Peter Gelsomino. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, June 11th, 11:00 am, at St. Rose Church preceded by a 10:30 am prayer service at Blackstone Funeral Home.  The family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday from 5-8 pm at the funeral home.  Nilda will be laid to rest at Resurrection Cemetery.
