Leonora Zora Patrick, 98, of Girard, passed away Sunday January 19,2014 at 8:50 in the evening at Nugents Nursing Home in Hermitage, Pennsylvania. Leonora's family and friends provided continuous support during her illness. Leonora was born on December 30, 1915 in Harmony, Pennsylvania, the daughter of the late Cyril and Frances Balich Furlan. She graduated from Farrell High School in Farrell, Pa. She later married Louis Patrick in 1935. In time they moved to Girard, Ohio where Leonora resided until her passing. Leonora was a life long member of Slovenska Narodna Podporna Jednota. She belonged to lodge 643 in Girard and was active until her passing. Zora was proud of her Slovenian Heritage and culture. Leonora loved to attend the Sunday dances held at the SNPJ center in Enon Valley, Pennsylvania. During World War II Leonora was a Red Cross Volunteer. She also worked as many women did in the factories that supported the war effort. Leonora is survived by her niece's, Geraldine Furlan of New Mexico, Sandra Furlan of West Middlesex, Pa., Sara (Russell) Holley of Columbia Maryland, Betty Arcon of Toronto, Canada and Mary Ann Mikel of Frankford, Canada, Donna Kutsko Sherwin and Kimberly, nephew, Charles Arcon of Nova Scotia, Canada, nephew, Cyril Furlan, wife Claudia, and son Noah, and nephew, Dave Ketnick of San Antonio, Texas and Russell Holley of Maryland. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Louis Partick, brother, Herman and her sister, Eleanor, niece, Karen Holley, and brother-in-law Jack Ketnick. Leonora will be much missed by family and friends who loved her very much. Funeral Services will be held on Friday January 24, 2014 at 11:00 am at Blackstone Funeral Home 672 Churchill Rd. Girard, Ohio. Family will receive relatives and friends from 9:00 am till time of service at the funeral home. Interment will be held at Girard City Cemetery.
