Loretta J. Mason, 91,of Girard, entered eternal peace on Sunday, January 19, 2014, at 9:15 PM while she was a patient in St. Elizabeth Medical Center, Youngstown, following a brief illness. She was born October 28, 1922, in Rouseville, Pennsylvania, a daughter to Walter and Bertha (Dickinson) Winters. A 1940 graduate of Oil City H.S., Loretta devoted her life to be a homemaker for her family. She will be remembered for many, many things, including her naturally caring nature, her beautiful crocheted blankets, her love for playing bingo, and for always being the "peacemaker" with family and friends. She was a member of St. Rose Catholic Church, Girard; the Seniors Citizens Groups of St. Rose and Girard; and the Jolly Stitchers. Her survivors include: son, Thomas Mason & his wife Charlotte, Vienna, OH; daughters, Kathy Miskell & her husband Jack, McDonald, OH, Pamela Lesher & her husband Donald, Howland, OH, and Mary Kremser & her husband Daniel, Columbus, OH; daughter-in-law, Dorothy Mason, Geneva, OH; brother, James D. Winters, Nickleville, PA; sisters, Delores J. Whitehill, Nickleville, PA, and Nancy L. McClintock, Cherrytree, PA; sister-in-law, Mary Winters, Franklin, PA; fourteen grandchildren, William Mason, Thomas Mason, Jacquelyn Buongiovanni, Kelly Vickers, Greg Mason, Tricia Turner, Jill Chuita, Melissa Miskell-Tabbara, Joseph Miskell, Jennifer Dargan, Daniel Mills, Justin Haines, Don Lesher, and Brittany Lesher; and nineteen great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Richard Mason; her brothers, Arden, Jack, & Walter Winters; and by her sisters, Betty Alberg and Doris Beckel. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held in her honor on Wednesday, January 22, 2014, at 11:00 AM in St. Rose Catholic Church where family and friends may call from 9:30 until the time of service. She will be laid to rest in Girard City Cemetery. As suggested by her family, material contributions may be made to the Emanuel Center, Girard.
