Lucy Forte, 78, of Niles and formerly Girard, passed Monday, December 12, 2011, at St. Joseph Health Center in Warren.
She was born Lucy Gelsomino April 9, 1933, in Girard, the daughter of the late Rocco and Regetta DiTomasso Gelsomino. She was a graduate of Girard High School and worked as an operator for the Ohio Bell Telephone Company and as a secretary for St. Rose Church for 15 years. She was a longtime member of Open Door Community Church in McDonald. In her free time she enjoyed cooking, walking, and spending time with her children and grandchildren.
She married Charles Edward Forte on April 9, 1952, and they enjoyed 45 years together before his passing on May 25, 1997. Her memories will be celebrated by her family, children Lawrence J. Forte of Gahanna, Michele M. (Ronald) Cronenwett of Howland, Joseph E. (Deborah) Forte of Austintown, Palma R. (Dennis) Yurco of Howland, and Charles S. Forte of Girard; sisters Carmel Scarbrough of McDonald and Mary Rice of Girard; grandchildren Jason Cronenwett, Joseph Forte, Kayla Yurco, Katherine Forte, and Ryan Forte. She was preceded in death by sisters Pauline Gelsomino and Alice Congemi, and brother Carmen Gelsomino.
Memories of Lucy's life will be shared at a memorial service at Open Door Community Church in McDonald on Monday, December 19, 2011, at 2:00pm.
