Mafalda (Foti) Costarella

Mafalda Costarella, 96, of Niles, formerly of Girard, died Friday August 31, 2012 at the Hospice House.  Mafalda was born Feb. 3, 1916 in Reggio, Italy, the daughter of the late Joseph and Carmela Mazza Foti.  She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ in Austintown. Mafalda enjoyed cross-stitching and crocheting and was a wonderful cook.  She is survived by her son Joseph R. Costarella and his wife Lois of Girard, daughter Mary Carmel Minniti of Belle Vernon, Pa., brother Joseph Foti of Italy, Sister-In-Law Clara Foti of Youngstown, seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.  She is preceded in death by her husband, Anthony Costarella, whom she married January 5, 1933 and died August 29, 2001.  Funeral services will be held on Tuesday Sept. 4th, 11:00 AM at The Church of Jesus Christ.  The family will receive relatives and friends on Monday from 5-8PM at the Blackstone Funeral Home in Girard and on Tuesday from 10-11 AM at the church. Interment will take place at Girard City Cemetery. The family requests any material contributions be made to the Church of Jesus Christ.  Visit www.blackstonefuneralhome.com to view this obituary and to send condolences to the Costarella family.
