Marjorie J. Betts

Marjorie J. Betts, 95, passed away on Thursday, December 8, 2022 at her home at Wickshire Senior Living. She was born October 11, 1927, in Girard, Ohio, a daughter of John D. and Elizabeth (Jones) Edwards.
She was a 1945 graduate of Girard High School, a September 1948 graduate of Youngstown Hospital Association School of Nursing, and a 1981 graduate of Youngstown State University. She retired in 1989 from the Austintown Public Schools where she worked for 25 years as an elementary school nurse.
She was a member of the Girard First United Methodist Church and its Lydia Circle. She was a member of NSAN, OASN, NEOASN, the Austintown Retired Teachers, Retired RN's, YHA Alumni Association and was a former volunteer at the Midlothian Free Clinic.
Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Donald, whom she married November 2, 1948 and who died February 7, 2018, brothers, Howard and David Edwards and sister, Hazel Yourd.
Left to cherish her memory are her sister, Edith Schidel of California, son Richard Betts of Crosby, TX, and daughters, Barbara Novotny of Huntingdon, TN and Penny (Matt) Hannon of Boardman, 10 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, and 10 great great grandchildren.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the wonderful staff at Wickshire Senior Living and Crossroads Hospice for their care and support.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday,  December 13th, 11:00 AM at Girard First United Methodist Church, where the family will receive relatives and friends one hour prior to the service. Marjorie will be laid to rest at Girard City Cemetery next to her beloved husband.
