Marjorie L. Harkabus, 89, formerly of Girard, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Thursday April 17, 2014 at Victoria House Assisted Living Center in Austintown. Marge, the first-born child of Mila (Walters) and Lawrence Eakin was born February 13, 1925 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. After graduation from Liberty High School in 1943, she married Edward Harkabus on August 16, 1952.  In her professional career, Marge was employed at Republic Steel as a Secretary and as a bank clerk at the Mahoning National Bank in Liberty.  She served as Financial Secretary for Church Hill United Methodist Church for 40 years until her retirement.  Marge was a faithful member of the Church Hill United Methodist Church for 77 years.   She sang in the church choir, cooked and served inumberable dinners, was president of the TFG Class and United Methodist Women, was a Stephen Minister, taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School and served on many committees.  Marge was devoted to her daughters and actively participated in their endeavors.  She was the treasurer, head cook and trip planner for the Warren Jr. Military band and treasurer of the Girard Band Boosters as well as the leader of their 4-H group.  She enjoyed board games, puzzles, sewing, and knitting.  Most of all, she cherished spending time with her children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews.  Her memory will be cherished by her two daughters, Patricia S. (Michael) Abbuhl of Diamond, Ohio and Mila Harkabus of Howland, Ohio. Two grandchildren, Tracey (Jeff)  Hayn of Rootstown, Ohio  and Jeffrey (Leslie)  Abbuhl of Cuyahoga Falls. Four great-grandchildren, Lydia and Parker Abbuhl, and Carson and Ella  Hayn.  A sister, Mary Kitchen of Twinsburg, Ohio.  She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Edward, brother Larwrence Eakin and sister Eileen Policy. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, April 22nd, 11:00 am at Church Hill United Methodist Church.  The family will receive relatives and friends on Monday from 5-8 pm at Blackstone Funeral Home and also on Tuesday from 10:30 - 11:00 am at the church.
