GIRARD - Mary Jane Banyots, 91, passed away Saturday, April 5, 2014, at her home with her son by her side.
Mary was born April 14, 1922, in Girard, a daughter of the late Dimetro and Katrina Katherine Tokarsky Kulin, and was a lifelong area resident.
Mrs. Banyots, a beloved wife, mother, and homemaker, also worked for decades at St. Rose Parish in the elementary school cafeteria. She had previously worked at the Ohio Leather Works in Girard.
She was a member of St. Rose Church and of Parents of Murdered Children. Mary was an voracious reader, and enjoyed shopping and the card clubs she belonged to with her friends.
She is survived by her son, Roger J. Banyots, with whom she made her home.
Her husband, Joseph "Whitey" Banyots, whom she married Nov. 3, 1951, passed away Oct. 12, 1978. A son, Richard R. Banyots, and seven brothers and sisters, also preceded her in death.
Mary’s family will receive relatives and friends from 10 to 11 a.m. on Thursday, April 10, at St. Rose Church in Girard, where a Memorial Mass will follow at 11 a.m.
Mary will be laid to rest with her husband and younger sister, Pat, at Girard City Cemetery.
