Mary E Cretella

Mary E. Cretella, 89, of Girard, passed away on Thursday December 19, 2013 at St. Joseph Hospital. She was born April 27, 1924, in Girard, Ohio , the daughter of the late Frank and Raphael Scafuri Caputo. Mary worked for the Ravenna Arsenal during WWII, Meuser's Shoe Store in Girard and 15 years as a clerk for Trumbull County Auditor. She was a member of St. Rose Church, Mt. Carmel Society, Chit-Chat-Club and the Oblate Sisters Auxillary. Mary was an avid reader and enjoyed being with her family. She is survived by her children, Sara (Tom) Bova of Findlay, Ohio, Maggie Cretella of Girard, Philip "Rusty" Cretella of Girard, Theresa (John) Kay of Girard and Frank (Karen) Cretella of Girard, sisters, Antoinette Lonardo of Boardman, Philomena Bush of Warren and Helen Robison of Winter Park, Florida, nine grandchildren and  seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Philip A. Cretella whom she married January 27, 1947 and died April 25, 1992, brothers, Ralph and John Caputo.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday December 27, 2013 at 5:00 PM at St. Rose Church, where there will be  calling hours from 3:00PM until the time of mass at the church. Interment will be held at Girard City Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Blackstone Funeral Home. Family request that material contributions be made to St. Jude's Childrens Foundation, which their mother supported for many years.
