Matthew Edward Jurkovac, 94, of Girard, passed away peacefully on October 4, 2021, at the Hospice House, in Poland. Matthew was born March 6, 1927, in Monaca Pennsylvania, the son of the late Joseph and Johanna (Fabyanic) Jurkovac. He served his country in the Marines during WWII. He was a graduate of Geneva College where he earned his Bachelor's degree. Matthew retired from Sharon Steel in 1987 as a Controller, and had previously worked for Republic Steel in Elizabethtown, Kentucky. Matthew was an avid golfer and sports fan who participated in many golf leagues. He was a member of the National Association of Accountants and former president of the Beaver Valley Chapter and a member of St. Edward’s Catholic Church, Youngstown.Matthew leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Helen Jukovac, whom he married May 9, 1959; children, Mark Jurkovac, of Columbus, Timothy Jurkovac,of Huron, Linda (Jeff) Knight and their sons Tanner and Walker, of Youngstown, and Jeff Jurkovac, of Columbus, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents,brothers George (Phylis) and John (Libby) Jurkovac, and sisters Frances (Stanley) Cvetich, Anna (Albert) Antoline, Mary (Herb) Lawrence, and an infant sister born in the former Yugoslavia. Matthew was laid to rest at Sylvania Hills Memorial Park in Rochester,Pennsylvania.
