Melvin L. "Archie" Smail, 78, of Las Vegas, formerly of Girard, passed away July 26, 2015. He was born June 17, 1937 in Youngstown, the son of the late Leroy and Cora Smail. He was a graduate of Girard High School and went on to enlist in the Navy "Which he proudly served". He will be deeply missed by daughters, Marlene L. Smail and Karen M. Joiner of Girard, sons, Melvin L. Smail of Cortland and Allan (Alissa) Smail of Frazeysburg, Ohio. Mel attended YSU, OSU, UNLV and Arizona State majoring in Social Work. He also leaves to cherish his memory two sisters, Evelyn McAllister of Indiana, and Carol (Bill) Lewis of Mineral Ridge, brother, Allan (Betty) Smail of New Harmony, Utah, three grandchildren, Jeff (Stephanie) Killin of Hubbard, Kristy Killin and Danny Smith of Girard and two great-grandchildren Justin Creech and Makenna Killin. He was preceded in death by his sister Jean Owen. A Memorial Service will be held on Monday September 14, 2015 at Girard City Cemetery Chapel at 11:00 AM with Military Honors.
