Michael A. Binder, 69, of McDonald, passed away suddenly on Saturday October 25, 2014 at the Cleveland Clinic. Michael was born November 28, 1944 in New Castle, Pennsylvania, the son of George and Mary Baka Binder. He worked as a computer programer for the Genie Co, later known as Overhead Door Co., in Alliance, Ohio, retiring in 2010. A member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in McDonald, Michael also taught CCD classes there for many years. He was an avid Steelers and Penn State fan, loved golfing and traveling, especially to the beach. Michael was a veteran serving his country in the U.S. Air Force. He leaves his wife, the former Sandra L. Dietz, whom he married August 30, 1969, his daughter Kristian Binder of Austintown, son Michael F. Binder and wife Kristina of McDonald, and his two granddaughters Ava and Aubrey, who were the light of his life. Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother George. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday October 29th, 10:00 AM at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church. The family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday from 5-8 PM at Blackstone Funeral Home in Girard. Because Michael was a heart transplant recipient of 22 years, the family requests any material contributions be made to Life Bank in Michael's memory.
