Michael L DePaul

Michael L. DePaul, 81, of Girard, passed away on Friday January 18, 2013 at Northside Medical Center.  Michael was born on May 26, 1931 in Girard, Ohio, the son of the late John L. and Mary Colapietro DePaul.  Michael graduated from Girard High School, attended Ohio State University and served in the  Air Force during the Korean Conflict.  He was a landscaper for 25 years at Terrace Gardens in Canfield retiring in 1993.  A member of St. Rose Church, the American Legion Post #235 of Girard, a trustee of Girard Historical Society and member of Cortland Conservation Club.  Michael loved reading, camping, sailing and taking walks with his dogs.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years,the former Abigail  DeChant, his children Ann Marie (Ron) Hewitt of Girard, John L. (Susan) DePaul of Leavenworth, Kansas, David M. (Claudine) DePaul of Pittsburgh, Pa., Robert M. (Kimberly) DePaul of Girard and daughter-in-law Aldeen Swerdan, thirteen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.  He is preceded in death by his sisters Stephanie Socha, Josephine Pascarella and Marie Miles and a brother Joseph Simione.  A Memorial Mass will be held on Wednesday January 23rd, 11:00 AM at St. Rose Church.  The family will receive relatives and friends from 10:00AM until the time of service at the church on Wednesday.  The family requests any material contributions be made to the Girard Historical Society or the St. Rose School Angel Fund.  Visit www.blackstonefuneralhome.com to view this obituary and to send condolences to the DePaul Family.
