Michael Helco

Michael Helco, 90, of McDonald, passed away on Tuesday, March 2, 2016, at his home surrounded by his family. Mike was born September 19, 1925 in Girard, the son of Steve and Anastasia Volshun Helco. He had worked for US Steel as a gang leader. Mike loved working in his garden and singing and dancing around the house. He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 70 years, Zora (Provich) Helco, whom he married July 17,1945, his sons, Dennis Michael Helco, of Warren, and Ronald (Martha) Helco of Staten Island, NY,  his daughter, Debbie (Gary) Woolensack, of Howland, 12 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.  He is preceded in death by his daughter, Stephanie Mortaro-Helco, son Michael Helco, sister, Kathryn Helco, and brothers, Peter and Steve Helco. Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 4th, 1:00 PM at Blackstone Funeral Home in Girard, where the family will receive relatives and friends from 12:00 PM  until the time of service.
