Michael Smith

Michael Smith, 87, formerly of Girard, died Tuesday October 18, 2011 at Shepherd of the Valley Nursing Home.  He was born November 23, 1923 in Girard, Ohio the son of the late Michael & Cleo Wallace Smith.
Michael was a Owner Operator for Smith Brother Trucking retiring in 1988.  He was a graduate of Girard High School class of 1941, and a former member of William Farr Lodge #0672 in Girard.  He is survived by his daughters,  Brenda L. Smith of Warren, and Cathy S. (Smith) Lawrence of Lake Orion, Michigan,  and son-in-law Tim Lawrence, brother, Thomas Smith of Girard, Grandchildren, Joslyn and Jarod Lawrence.  He is preceded in death by his wife the former Gretchen Lou Voit whom he married May 20, 1949 and died December 3, 1978, and sister Patricia (Smith) Siranovic.  Funeral Services will be held on Saturday October 22, 2011 at 12:00 PM at Blackstone Funeral Home where family will receive relatives and friends on Friday from 6-8PM at the funeral home.  Interment will be held at Crown Hill Cemetery.  Visit www.blackstonesfh.com to view this obituary and to send condolences to the Smith family.
