Michael Weiss

Michael G. Weiss, of Davao City, Philippines, formerly of Girard, passed away at Holy Spirit Community Hospital in Davao City on December 18, 2015. Michael was born in Youngstown on March 3, 1956. He attended school in Mineral Ridge. After school he was employed by LTV Steel and later managed the Yak Yak Shack in Austintown. Michael later purchased the Yak Yak Shack and moved it to Hubbard. He was a Marine veteran and a former member of the Masons. He enjoyed bowling, camping, gambling and loved riding his motorcycle. Michael is lovingly remembered by his parents, Jerry and Joann Weiss; Mary Mandras, mother of his children, Michael (Melinda) Weiss, Amy (Brian) Weiss, and Matthew (Jennie) Weiss; his grandchildren Jasmine Weiss, Zoey Hetrick, Madison LaRosa, Matthew R. Weiss, and Brady Weiss; his brothers, Harry Weiss and Jeff Weiss; his sisters, Cindy Weiss and Joan Woodley; his nephews, Mark Weiss, Josh Weiss, Jeff Weiss, Rick Palmer and Fred Woodley Jr.; and nieces Kristy Weiss, Melissa Mcallister, and Jessica Woodley. He will also be missed dearly by his girlfriend Angelica Vilanueva and her daughter Alex, in the Philippines, with whom he made his home.  Memorial services will be held at Blackstone on Sunday, January 31st, at 5:00 PM, with Pastor Gary Gill officiating.
