Norma J (Mowrey) Gifford

Norma J. Gifford, 81, of Niles, passed away Monday, March 27, 2017 at St. Joseph Hospital in Warren, Ohio . Norma was born in Reynoldsville, Pennsylvania on September 9, 1935, the daughter of Haven D. and Lillian R. (Hamilton) Mowrey. Norma was a member of Liberty Assembly of God Church. Norma married the love of her life, Ray G. Gifford, on November 29, 1950 and together they raised four daughters. Norma spent her life dedicated to her husband and her family as a "domestic engineer." She enjoyed cooking, crafts, sewing, and holding babies. She is survived by her husband, Ray; her daughters, Maria Gifford of Niles, Susan (John) Hay of Niles, and Peggy (Bob) Clay of Niles; a brother, Earl (Donna) Mowrey of Hubbard; her 11 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren; and a son-in-law, Bob Butko of Florida. Besides her parents, she is preceded in death by her daughter Norma Rae Butko.  Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, March 31st, at Blackstone Funeral Home in Girard. The family will receive friends and relatives on Friday at noon until the time of services.  Norma will be laid to rest at Kerr Cemetery.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the person's charity of choice in memory of Norma.
