Philip J. Garnet Sr., 74 of McDonald, passed away Tuesday April 14, 2015 at Northside Hospital. He was born April 28, 1940 in Youngstown, Ohio, the son of the late Rocco and Julia Kish Garnet. Philip graduated from Conneaut Lake High School in 1958 and attended Penn State College and Youngstown State University. Philip was a police officer for Trumbull County Sheriff Department, Cortland and Champion Police Departments for 20 years and retired from Packard Electric in 1999 after 40 years as a pipe fitter. He enjoyed golfing, gardening and woodworking. Philip is survived by his wife, the former, Dianne B. Burns, whom he married April 14, 2001, children; Rhonda Winters of Champion, Philip J. (Joyce) Garnet Jr., of Howland, James B. Garnet Sr. of Champion, and Amber (Rusty) Sowers of Mercer, Pa., brothers; James F. Garnet of Hartstown, Pa., Gary T. Garnet of Cortland and Rocco Garnet of Conneaut Lake, Pa., eight grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father and mother. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, April 18th, at 11:00 AM at Blackstone Funeral Home in Girard. Family will receive relatives and friends on Saturday from 9 AM until the time of service. Philip will be laid to rest at Belmont Park Cemetery.
