Phyllis Marie Hutton Eicher, 93, of Girard, Ohio died on Saturday, September 6, 2014. She was born in West Pittsburgh, PA on October 31, 1920, the daughter of Howard W. and Dorothy Johnston Hutton. She was a graduate of Girard High School. Her husband, George T. Eicher died in 1997. Their only child, Jerry Lee, passed away in 2003. Her family includes her two grandsons, George T. (Michele Lopez) and Victor Eicher, all of Girard. Her daughter-in-law Martha Eicher (Bill McNally), with whom she had made her home, will mourn her loss. Phyllis' great-granddaughter, Natalie Ann was just the "light in her eyes". She also leaves one niece, Lois Davis Scott. Phyllis was a homemaker who also had been employed for 22 years in various positions at the G.M. McKelvey Co. in Youngstown. Her last and favorite area was beauty consultant. She and her husband traveled extensively across the USA, including Alaska and many trips to Florida. They also camped and took their grandsons, George and Victor with them on many occasions. Phyllis loved life, had seemingly endless energy, and enjoyed telling jokes and making people laugh in any way she could. Her hobbies included painting, gardening and making many gifts of crocheted items; most popular were her net "Scrubbies". She was a member of The First Christian Church of Girard, OH where she was an Elder, taught Sunday school for many years, and was a member of the Amicus and Nifty-Fifty Classes. She and her husband had been members of the Girard Senior Citizens. She loved flowering plants and birds of all kinds; she had been an active member of the Girard Garden Club for many years. Phyllis spent hour after hour creating ceramic pieces for the Star Glazers of Eastern Star Sunrise Chapter #458 where she was a member. Accoring to her wishes, the professional arrangements are being handled by Blackstone Funeral Home, 672 Churchill Road, Girard, Ohio. There will be a Memorial Service there on Saturday, September 13th at 11:00 am starting with the Eastern Star service. If you wish to remember Phyllis, it is her preference that you donate to the First Christian Church of Girard Memorial Fund, 140 East Broadway, Girard, Ohio 44420. We would include Hospice of the Valley, 5190 Market Street, Youngstown, Ohio 44512 also for your consideration. The family is grateful for every caretaker at Liberty Arms and Liberty Health Care for the wonderful and loving care that Phyllis received during her years there. Each and every Hospice worker that gave her and her family the end of life care and guidance were so appreciated.
