Girard-ITCS(SW) Richard G. Ferraro Jr., 44, of Ewa Beach, Hawaii, formerly of Girard, Ohio died May 28, 2013 in Hawaii.  He was born May 8, 1969 in Youngstown, the son of Richard G. Sr. and Mary "Jackie" O'Brien Ferraro of Girard. Richard was a 1987 graduate of Girard High School.  Richard joined the U.S. Navy on June 24, 1987 achieving the rank of Senior Chief Petty Officer. Richard received orders to his first command, the USS John F. Kennedy, and then went on to serve at various commands to also include the USS Abraham Lincoln, USS La Salle, USS Chosin, USS Blue Ridge, USS Coronado, USNS Salvor. Richard also served in Desert Storm, The Persian Gulf, and more recently in Afghanistan. Richard was first and foremost always devoted to his command. He is survived by his parents, of Girard, his sister, Angela R. (Mike) Gonzalez and his niece Grace E. Edwards. He is also survived by his wife Leny Escobonas Ferraro and her children Mayann and Jessica. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Angelo and Mary Ferraro and Peter and Beulah O'Brien.  A Funeral Service with Military Honors will be held on Saturday June 15, 2013 at 2:30 PM at Blackstone Funeral Home in Girard. The family will receive relatives and friends on Friday from 6-8 pm at the funeral home. Richard's family would like to express appreciation to the U.S. Navy, Blackstone Funeral Home and Delta Airlines. Material Contributions can be made to the Girard Free Library in memory of Richard.
