Richard P. Miketa Sr., 76, of Liberty Twp., passed away on Wednesday, April 4, 2018 at his home. Richard (Dick), was born April 9, 1941 in Niles, Ohio, the son of Pete and Bertha (Dunn) Miketa. Dick retired in 2000 from McDonald Steel and had previously worked for US Steel. He was a member of St. Rose Church, Vienna Fish and Game Club, and Knights of Columbus. During retirement, Dick enjoyed taking road trips out west with his wife visiting national parks along the way, and ultimately spending time with relatives from Colorado, Arizona, and California. He was passionate about motorcycles, Nascar, dirt bike hill climbing, and especially woodcarving after retirement. He was extremely talented and with his remarkable skills transformed various types of wood into hand carved works of art.
He will forever be cherished by his wife of 55 years, Beverly (Bonk) Miketa, whom he married September 1, 1962; his sons Richard P. Miketa Jr., of Liberty, John P. Miketa of Raleigh, NC, Kristian Miketa of Girard and Kurtis (Aundrea) Miketa of Niles; his grandchildren, Brittany (Jason) Johnson, Rachel Miketa and Brandon Miketa; his sister, Kathy (Joe) Piscitani of Calcutta; and brothers, Ronald (Tina) Miketa of California, Russ (Marie) Miketa of Girard and Bob (Cheryl) Miketa of Liberty.
