Richard J Rider

Richard J. Rider Sr., 74, of Liberty Twp., passed away Saturday June 15, 2013 at Northside Hospital.  Richard was born Sept. 29, 1938 in Cleveland, the son of the late Morris and Helen Shredel Rider.  Richard retired in 2002 after 33 years at General Motors and was a tool and dye maker.  He was a member of the UAW Local #1714.  Richard loved to collect stamps, coins, lighthouses, ships and model trains.  He enjoyed the history on wars, the sweepstakes and building model trains.  Richard was a Navy veteran.  He is survived by his wife of 42 years, the former Judy A. Ludwig, his children Richard J. Rider Jr., Deborah Rider of Girard, step-children Donna Blankenship of East Lake and Kimberly Spalding of Cleveland, sisters Kathy Grundman of Euclid and Karen Shea of Conneticut, brother William Rider of Georgia, grandchildren Whitney Sprowl, Candice Dunell, Danny and Amber Blankenship, Courtney Lemon, Alainah and Maliah Dean and great-grandchildren Alexandria, Cayden and Kylie Dunell and Miley Vazquez.  Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by his daughter Pamela Lynn Sprowl.  The family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday June 19th, from 4-7PM at the Blackstone Funeral Home in Girard.  Visit www.blackstonefuneralhome.com to view this obituary and to send condolences to the Rider family.
