Richard Wear, 78, of Austintown, passed away peacefully at home on January 21, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family.
Richard was born on April 16, 1946, in Warren, Ohio, to Lloyd Wear and Virginia (Opal) Garner.
Richard proudly served his country in the Marine Corps as a Shipmaster aboard the USS Boston, an experience that enriched his life and shaped his values of duty and service. Following his military career, he channeled his dedication into teaching, where he inspired countless students with his passion for learning and genuine enthusiasm.
Richard dedicated 33 years of his life to educating the young minds of the Mathews School District. His commitment to nurturing future generations extended beyond the classroom, as he spent an additional five years as a bus aide for Fair Haven, where his warmth and kindness left a lasting impression on all who knew him.
An avid outdoorsman, Richard found joy in fishing, hunting, and gardening. These experiences not only brought him happiness but also created cherished memories with his loved ones.
He is survived by his wife, Donna J. (Philibin/Lipka) Wear, who he married March 14, 1992; his children, Lisa (Justin) Wilcox and Holly (Jeff) Moody; stepchildren, Gregory (Michelle) Lipka and Stacie (Nolan) Cubellis; sister, Mary Alice (Ray) Mullinax and took immense pride in his status as a grandfather to Olivia Wilcox, Kaison and Elyce Lipka, and Elia and Mallory Cubellis.
Along with his parents Richard is preceded in death by his brothers, John Wear and Milton Earl Wear, and James Wear.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 25th from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM, followed by a memorial service at 2:00 PM, at Blackstone Funeral Home in Girard.
