Robert J. Housteau, 88, of Girard, passed away on June 24, 2016 at Vista Center at the Ridge. Bob was born May 5, 1928, the son of Carl and Margaret Rossiter Housteau. Bob was a Girard High School and Youngstown State University graduate and serviced his country during the Korean Conflict in the Army 101st Airborne. He later taught and coached football at Warren School System and after retirement he was a recreation director of Girard Parks. Bob was a member of St. Rose Church. Bob was a Football Hall of Fame Curbstone Coaches recipient in 1997, GHS in 1998 and YSU in 1988. He enjoyed fishing, golfing and bowling and often organized golf tournaments. He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 61 years, the former, Rosemarie Buehrle. whom he married June 18, 1955, a son David (Nancy) Housteau of Thibodaux, Louisiana. Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers, Joe and Jack, and his sisters; Mary Ellen Danko, Karen Staton and Dolores Zevkovich. Memorial services will be held on Monday, June 27th, 11:30 AM, at Blackstone Funeral Home, with the Rev. Msgr. John Zuraw officiating. Family and friends will be received on Monday from 11:00 - 11:30 AM at the funeral home.
