Robert H. McClary, 90, of McDonald, passed away on Thursday, March 29, 2018, at Humility House in Austintown. Robert was born May 13, 1927 in Akron, Ohio, the son of Luke W. and Ada (Hawk) McClary. Robert graduated from Copley High School and obtained his bachelor's degree at Bowling Green State University. He had worked for McDonald High School for 30 years as a teacher and basketball coach, retiring in 1978. After retiring, Robert served on the McDonald Board of Education for 20 years. He was the first coach in Trumbull County inducted into the Ohio High School Basketball Coaches Association Hall-of-Fame and the McDonald High School gymnasium is named after him. Robert was a member of Woodland Park United Methodist Church. Robert leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, W. Jean (Blanks) McClary, whom he was married to for almost 70 years, his sons, Tom (Fran) McClary of Mogadore, Ohio and Bob (Mariann) McClary of Ocala, Florida, grandchildren; Tom (Martyne) McClary, Michael (Jackie) McClary, Beau (Amanda) McClary, Kyle (Tammy) McClary and Erin (Travis) Hutchins, eight great-grandchildren, three sister- in -laws and one brother- in- law. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 4th, 11:00 AM at Blackstone Funeral Home,officiated by Rev. David Hill. The family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday from 5-8 PM at the funeral home. Robert will be laid to rest at Girard City Cemetery. The family requests in lieu of flowers, any memorial donations be made to Woodland Park United Methodist Church.
