Robert "Ribby" Putigano

Robert "Ribby" Putigano, 94, of Niles, passed away on Sunday, May 14, 2017 at the Manor at Autumn Hills. Ribby was born June 8, 1922 in Cleveland, Ohio, the son of Louis and Antonette (Monaco) Putigano.  He worked for U.S. Steel for 35 years retiring as an inspector, and was a veteran who served in the U. S. Army.  Ribby was a native of Brier Hill and loved his Italian Heritage. He enjoyed sports and was an avid fan of the Cleveland Browns, Indians, and Cavaliers.  He was a member of St. Rose Church, and the ITAM Club.  He enjoyed playing fast-pitch softball for many leagues, golf, and loved to dance at Avon Oaks. Ribby loved spending time with his family and friends, especially Sunday dinners telling stories of the good old days.  He cherished every moment being with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his daughter, Bobbie (Joe) Mancino of Poland, son, Lou (Denise) Putigano of Columbus, grandchildren; Angela (Nick) Somogyi, Jenny (Lawrence) Inglee, Maria (Joey) DeChiaro, Allison (Tony) Fidelibus and John (Julie) Palguta, and great-grandchildren; Luca, Giuliana, Raphael, Alex, Michael, Joseph, Kaidance, Scarlett, Katie and Jay.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Victoria (Saborse) Putigano, whom he married May 7, 1949 and died June 3, 2014, along with his son, Danny Putigano, brothers, Santo and Mario Putigano and his sister, Viola Franco. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, May 19th., 11:00 AM, at St. Rose Church, preceded by a prayer service at 10:30 AM at Blackstone Funeral Home in Girard. The family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday from 4-7 PM at the funeral home. Ribby will be laid to rest at Girard City Cemetery with Military Honors.
