Robert G. "Bob" Blue, 73, of Girard, passed away on Saturday, March 31, 2018 at University Hospital in Cleveland. Bob was born November 11, 1944 in Youngstown, Ohio, the son of Terry E. and Lulu Lee (Bentley) Blue. After graduating from high school, Bob joined the US Air Force and served his country during the Vietnam War. Bob worked for Alcan Aluminum, as a foreman, after working there for eighteen years, and then went to RMI for sixteen years. Bob was always proud of his military service, he was a lifetime member of the American Legion, holding the offices of Past Commander, Adjutant, Finance Officer, 1st and 2nd Vice and Trustee was a member of the Girard Veterans Council Honor Guard and played the bugle for the military services. Bob was also a life time member of the Army-Navy Garrison Post #422. He was active in the start up of the Girard Little Indians. coached Little League 9-10 year olds for the Starr Realty Team and was a Girard Athletic Booster. He was a member of St. Rose Church. He leaves to cherish his memory, his high school sweetheart and wife of 51 years, Bea (Restuccio) Blue, whom he married June 4, 1966, his daughter, Bobbie Jo (Rob) Mears of Charleston, WV, his son, Robert A. (Companion Chris) Blue, of Akron, brothers, Grant Blue and Terry Blue, both of Girard, his half sister, Laurel Mason of Masury, eight grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister, Gayla Blue, brothers; Ted Blue, Summers Blue, Eugene Blue and half brother, Tony Blue. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, April 7th, 10:00 AM at St. Rose Church, preceded by a prayer service at 9:30 AM at Blackstone Funeral Home. The family will receive relatives and friends on Friday from 6:00 - 8:30 PM at the funeral home. Bob will be laid to rest at Belmont Park Cemetery with a military service provided by his friends and comrades of the Girard Honor Guard. The family requests any memorial contributions be made to St. Rose Church or the Army Navy Garrison Post #422, in Bob's memory.
