Ruth (Patton) Reed

Ruth Reed, 94, formerly of Girard, passed away Sunday November 16, 2014, at Heritage Manor surrounded by her loving family. Ruth was born January 31, 1920, in White Oak, Kentucky to Charlie Patton and Luna Allen Patton. As a child, she enjoyed attending a one-room school house, going to church, and making beautiful quilts with her mother. All four of her children treasure these quilts so lovingly made. She married Gene Reed on October 2, 1940. After Gene returned from World War II, they traveled and lived across the US. Her favorite places included the hot springs in Albuquerque, NM and the wonder of her first view of the Pacific Ocean in El Capitan, CA.  Her children were born in four different states. She settled in Girard, Ohio in 1956. Ruth leaves 4 children: TJ England (Jerry), Larry Reed (Mary-Jo Keenan), Janice Morgan (Daniel),  Lora Culver (Scott) : 12 grandchildren: Gino, Adam, April, Brian, Jon, Alex, Jacob, Teri, Daniel, Jason, Patrick, and Kelsey and 6 great grandchildren: Tyler, Gwen, Delaney, Ella, Henry, and Milo. She is survived by her beloved sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Naomi Daniels, John Reed, and cousin, Geneva Staton and many nieces and nephews. She will be deeply missed by her children and will always be remembered for her gentle soul and kind loving spirit. Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Gene Reed and daughter, Vera Jean. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday November 19, 2014 at 2:00 pm at Blackstone Funeral Home, 672 Churchchill Rd, Girard, with calling hours from 1:00 pm till time of service.
