Ruth M. (Baptist) Sistilo

Ruth M. Sistilo, 91, of Girard, passed away on Monday October 26, 2015 at her residence with her family by her side. Ruth was born July 29, 1924, in Girard, Ohio, the daughter of Edward and Mary Carson Baptist. Ruth had previously worked for Copperweld Steel, US Steel and Syro Steel in the office. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Girard, and was very active in the church being a member of United Methodist Women, Lydia Circle, and worked the church luncheons for 17 years. She is survived by her children, Carol (Terry) Rose of Girard, Karen (Drew) Nemergut of Girard, Kathy (Tom) Morrow of Columbiana and James Sistilo of Virginia Beach, Sisters; Helen Virgillitti of Girard and Marie Dikun of McDonald, seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Besides her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, John, whom she married April 24, 1954 and died January 7, 1998, sisters Josephine Morgan, Isabelle Fritz and Dorothy Devereaux and brothers Alex and John Baptist. Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 30th, 11:00 AM at First United Methodist Church, where the family will receive relatives and friends from 10:30 AM until the time of service at the church. Visitation will be held at Blackstone Funeral Home on Thursday from 5-7 PM. Ruth will be laid to rest at Girard City Cemetery next to her husband.
