Sarah Jane Syak

Sarah Jane Syak, 95, of Girard, passed away Friday October 12, 2012 at her home.  She was born October 29, 1916 in Girard, the daughter of the late Harry and Gladys Lewis Caines.  Sarah was a member of the First Baptist Church in Girard were she had taught Sunday School and sang in the choir.  She was a member of the  Youngstown Country Club, Girard Literary and Junior Guild.  Sarah loved gardening, especially her roses, and music.  She is survived by her daughter Sally Williams and husband Robert of Girard, daughter-in-law Patricia Syak, grandchildren Peter (Marete) Syak, Leslie (Thomas) Burgoyne and Elayne Knowlton  and great-grandchildren Jake Knowlton and Cadence Burgoyne, niece Ilsa Leonhart of Park City, Utah.  She is preceded in death by her husband, Charles W. Syak, whom she married Jan.4, 1934 and passed away Sept. 3, 2011 and son Harry Syak.  A memorial service will be held on Monday October 22, 2012, 11:00 AM at the First Baptist Church.  The family will receive relatives and friends on Sunday  from 6-8PM at the Blackstone Funeral Home in Girard.  Interment will take place at Girard City Cemetery.  The family requests any material contributions be made to the First Baptist Church, The Youngstown Symphony or the local Alzheimers Association.  Visit www.blackstonefuneralhome.com to view this obituary and to send condolences to the Syak family.
