Shirley J (Williams) Charles

Shirley J. Charles, 79, of Girard, died Monday September 1, 2014 at St. Elizabeth Hospital. She was born September 13, 1934 in North Lima, Ohio, the daughter of the late Lawrence and Alma Pinkerton Williams. She had worked at Ohio Leather Works for a short while and later devoted her time to raising her children. She was a member of Junior Women's League, American Legion Ladies Auxillary and several bowling leagues. She enjoyed reading, being in the outdoors and spending as much time as possible with her grandchildren. She is survived by her son; Robert F. (Liz) Charles Jr. of Girard and daughter; Coleen A. (Bob) Dannessa of Youngstown, sister; Judy (Russ) Barninger of Vermillion, Ohio, brother; Larry (Martha) Williams of Girard, and three grandchildren; Rob Charles, Adam Charles and Briana Dannessa. She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert F. Charles Sr. whom she married June 26, 1954 and passed away on April 29, 1994 and sister June Mowery. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday September 6, 2014 at 10:00 am at Blackstone Funeral Home in Girard. Family will receive relatives and friends on Friday from 5-8 pm at the funeral home. Shirley will be laid to rest at Girard City Cemetery.
