Shirley (McFadden) Hewitt

Shirley Hewitt, 80, of Girard, passed away on Thursday, December 31, 2015 at Shepherd of the Valley Nursing Home in Niles. Shirley was born October 1, 1935, in Niles, Ohio, the daughter of the late John and Helen Shiley McFadden. Shirley had worked as a Registered Nurse for Youngstown Hospital Association. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Girard, and a former member of the Ladies Eagles Auxiliary. Shirley loved traveling with her late husband Ronald, and spending winters in Florida with him. She is survived by her children; Cynthia (Edwin) Dull, of Niles, John (April) Hewitt, of Las Vegas, and Wendy (Thomas) Byers. of Girard, daughter-in-law Anne Hewitt of Girard, sisters; Beverly McFadden of Niles and Pamela Hathaway, of Georgia, 12 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Ronald J. Hewitt, whom she married May 25, 1957 and passed away December 22, 2003, her son Ronald Hewitt Jr., sister Patricia Sethman and brothers, Russell McFadden and Perry McFadden. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 5th, 11:00 AM at Blackstone Funeral Home in Girard. The family will receive relatives and friends on Monday from 5-7 PM at the funeral home. Shirley will be laid to rest at Kerr Cemetery next to her husband. The family requests any material contributions be made to the Alzheimers Association.
