Shirley A (Morgan) Wise

April 4, 1935 — February 10, 2016

Shirley A. Wise, a longtime resident of Vienna, Ohio, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on February 10th.
Shirley was born April 4, 1935 in Hastings, Pennsylvania, the daughter of the late Andrew G. and Anne Hudak Morgan. She was united in marriage to Joseph J. Wise on March 12, 1957. He preceded her in death April 21, 1996. They were married for 39 blissful years. Shirley had worked as head cashier for Kroger’s, and later went on to demonstrate for Toy Ladies, where she won several awards for top sales. Shirley loved being in her kitchen preparing meals for her family and friends. She was an excellent baker. At Christmastime, and for special occasions, she baked and sold cookies. Shirley had a heart of gold, and loved the life gifted to her by God. She was a long standing member of St. Thomas the Apostle Church. She was past-president of the Women’s Guild and also of the St. Vincent de Paul Society.  She devoted many years to serving others at the St. Vincent de Paul Soup Kitchen (dining hall). Shirley will be deeply missed by; her children - Joe (Katie) Wise of Vienna, Ohio, John (Carol) Wise of Fowler, Ohio, David (Junett) Wise of Fowler, Ohio; her brother - John “Sonny” Morgan, of Vienna, Ohio; ten grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she is preceded in death by a son, Andrew S. Wise, in 1998. The family will receive friends on Sunday, February 14th, from 4-6 PM at Blackstone Funeral Home, 672 Churchill Rd, Girard, Ohio. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, February 15th, 11:00 AM, at St. Thomas the Apostle Church in Vienna, preceded by a prayer service at 10:15 AM at the funeral home.  Shirley will be interred at Crown Hill Cemetery in Vienna, Ohio, next to her husband. The family would like to thank Autumn Hill Care Center, where she made her home for the past year, and Hospice of the Valley for their dedication to Shirley’s comfort.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to the facilities that provided her comfort at the end of life and any of the organizations she spent her life serving:
