Stanley R Merrill

Stanley R. Merrill, 80, of Liberty Twp., died Thursday May 3, 2012 , at Northside Hospital.  Stanley was born August 1, 1931 in Niles, Ohio, the son of the late James P. and Ruth Maurin Merrill. Stanley retired from US Steel as a boiler tender after 26 years and later worked for Giant Eagle in Austintown for 7 years. He was a member of Assembly of God Church in Vienna and also the Moose Lodge.  Stanley enjoyed fishing, hunting, trapping, Indian craftworks and 1840 History Re-enactments.  He was a veteran of the US Airforce, military police, during the Korean War.  He is survived by his wife, the former, Joanne E. Frye, whom he married in 1955, sons David Paul (Kathryn) Merrill of Girard and Keith Allen Merrill of Liberty Twp, grandchildren Joshua P., Jonathan D., Gena R., Shannon L. and great-grandchildren Ethan, Jacob, Adanna, Jacie and Jacob.  Besides his parents he is preceded in death by his daughter Jennifer Melissa and his step-mother Evelyn Cote Merrill.  A Memorial service will be held on Monday May 7th, 8:00 PM at the Blackstone Funeral Home in Girard where the family will receive relatives and friends  from 6:00PM until the time of service.  The family requests any material contributions be made to the American Heart Association for the American Cancer Society.
