Stella G. (Gawdyda) Bettura

Stella G. Bettura of Girard, passed away on Friday, December 23, 2016 at the Hospice House. Stella was born in Girard, Ohio, the daughter of Theodore and Tekla Unitsky Gawdyda  She had worked for Packard Electric for 25 years retiring in 1980.Stella was a member of St. Rose Church where she volunteered in the school cafeteria and bingo nights and was a member of  the Mt. Carmel Society.  She had also volunteered at Northside Hospital. Stella enjoyed spending her winters in Florida with her husband and daughter, traveling, casino's and especially playing cards. She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband of 69 years, Thomas A. Bettura, whom she married October 25, 1947, her daughter, Patricia Schreiber of Ft. Myers, Florida, brother, Bogan (Elizabeth) Gawdyda of McDonald, grandson Michael (Krista) Mannion of Westerville, Ohio, her great-grandchildren, whom she adored, Briella and Gianni, sister-in-laws Norma Bettura of Youngstown and Jean Gawdyda of Cleveland, and many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she is preceded in death by her sister, Ann Cretella and brother Edward Gawdyda. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, December 27th, 11:00 AM at St. Rose Church, where the family will receive relatives and friends from 10:00 AM until the time of service. Stella will be laid to rest at Crown Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests any memorial contributions be made either her favorite charity, St. Jude Children's Hospital or Hospice of the Valley.
