Thomas Ira Dunlap has passed away on January 14, 2016 at age 88 while in the care of the Hospice of the Valley. He died of complications from Alzheimer's. He resided at Victoria House in Austintown, Ohio with his wife Virginia. He was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene and Effie Belle Dunlap plus five other siblings. Thomas served in the Navy during World War II in the Pacific Fleet. He was retired from the US Steel in McDonald, Ohio. His most proud accomplishment was the over 40 years he served in many capacities with the Boy Scouts of America. For this service he was awarded the highest honor an adult could receive, the Silver Beaver. He was known to his scouts as "Mr. D." He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Virginia Dunlap, son Thomas Stephen, daughter-in-law Pamela and granddaughter Dawn Maria. He also leaves behind several members of the Gallo family (related to Virginia) including Nat and Sandy Gallo. Thomas is to be cremated and a small service will be held in the late spring as family members return from their Florida homes.
