Thomas F. McCarthy

Thomas F. McCarthy, 90, of Liberty Twp., passed away on Wednesday, April 15, 2015, at Liberty Health Care Center.  Tom was born July 12, 1924 in Youngstown, Ohio, the son of the late Frank and Mary Ronyak McCarthy.  Tom attended Wilson High School  then joined the Navy, serving his country during WWII.  He then worked  at  the Youngstown Vindicator  for 38 1/2 years before retiring  as an Assistant Circulation Manager .  Tom was a member of St. Rose Church, a Fourth Degree member of the Knights of Columbus, the Girard Senior Citizens and the Retired Vindicator Employees Club.  He enjoyed golfing, bowling and playing cards.  He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, the former, Lois Arens, whom he married June 15, 1946, his children: Janie (David) Nist of Liberty Twp., Thomas (Doreen) McCarthy of Boardman, Michael (Carol) McCarthy of Liberty Twp., Rick (Cindy) McCarthy of Lake Orion, Michigan, Kathy (Steve) Sepesy of Berlin Center, Mary Jo (Bill) Ciccotelli of Liberty Twp., John (Sue) McCarthy of Lake City, Fl., Kevin (Andrea) McCarthy of Hubbard, Frank (Lisa) McCarthy of Milan, Ohio and Theresa (Karl) Hamilton of Bradenton, Fl., twenty-one grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.  He  was preceded in death by his son Mark A. McCarthy, who passed away August 25, 2014,  two brothers , Danny & Bob,  and four sisters , Nancy, Betty, Theresa and Mary . A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, April 20th, 11:00 AM at St. Rose Church preceded by a prayer service at 10:30 AM, at Blackstone Funeral Home in Girard.  The family will receive relatives and friends on Sunday from 5-8 PM at the funeral home.  Tom will be laid to rest at Calvary Cemetery with military honors.  The family requests any material contributions be made to St. Rose Angel Fund.  Visit www.blackstonefuneralhome.com to view this obituary and to send any condolences to the McCarthy family.
