Thomas L Meikle

Thomas L. Meikle III, 81 of Liberty Township passed away at his home January 12, 2016 surrounded by his family. Tom was born in Fowler, Ohio, March 18, 1934, the son of Thomas L. Meikle Jr. and Juanita Clapp Meikle. His grandparents Thomas Sr. and Martha Meikle also helped raised him. Tom was a graduate of Liberty High School in 1952 and married his high school sweetheart, Avis Stephenson Meikle, May 16, 1953. During high school Tom was in Glee Club, enjoyed singing and was a member of the Youngstown Men's Sheet and Tube Choir. He was a private in the Army during the occupation of Germany, 1954-1956. He was a partner with his father in Meikle Sales and Service in Vienna, Ohio and continued his career as a self-employed sales person. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Avis; three children, Lori (Paul) Simione, Thomas IV (Linda), Margie (David) Fleischer; six grandchildren, Christopher Simione, Lauren (Mike) Simione Von Bergen, Thomas V (Anne), Jennifer (Mike) Meikle Cathers, Adam and Andrew Fleischer; five great grandchildren, Nathan and Anna Von Bergen, Thomas Meikle VI, Liam and Neal Cathers. Tom cherished his family above all else, and enjoyed nothing more than attending his grandchildren's events and spending time with them. Memorial services will be held at Blackstone Funeral Home on Saturday, January 16th at 2 PM. The family will receive relatives and friends on Saturday from 1-2 PM at the funeral home.
