Virginia M (Gething) Martin

Virginia M. Martin, 81, of Girard, passed away peacefully at Hospice House on Thursday, July 17, 2014.  Ginny was born May 14, 1933 in Youngstown, Ohio, the daughter of the late Arthur and Margaretta Morgan Gething. A lifelong resident of Girard, she graduated from Girard High School in 1950. Ginny graduated from Youngstown State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Education.  She was a member of Girard First United Methodist Church where she had served on the Administration Board and the Board of Trustees.  She served was a Past-President for the Mahoning County Medical Auxiliary. Ginny was an avid tennis player and golfer, having played with the Thursday Morning Ladies Golf League at Yankee Run for over 40 years as well as other local leagues.  She is survived by her daughter, Dr. Tammy L. Martin and her husband Dr. Robert Forstot of St. Louis, Missouri and her daughter Kimberly M. Berger and her husband Christopher Berger, of Chagrin Falls, Ohio. In addition, she is survived by many beloved nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, Dr. William T. Martin, whom she married July 5, 1958 and died January 21, 2011. Her brothers Arthur Gething, William Gething, Robert Gething and Jay Gething and her sister Alverna Cramer also predeceased Virginia.   Memorial services will be held on Monday, July 21st, 12:00 PM at the First United Methodist Church in Girard, where the family will receive relatives and friends from 11:00 AM until the time of service.
